Pensive Frog Games

Privacy policy

Effective November 4, 2026

The short version: Paintopia has no accounts and no analytics, and we run no game servers. Your progress stays on your phone (on iPhone, your best score also goes to Apple's Game Center if you use it). The apps show ads from Google AdMob, and Google collects some device data to show them, as described below. On iPhone, ads are personalized only if you allow tracking when the app asks.

This policy covers Paintopia for iPhone and Android, published by Pensive Frog Games ("we", "us"). Questions: support@pensivefrog.games.

What the game keeps, on your device

Paintopia saves a small file on your device: your best score, the paints you've discovered, which tips you've already seen, your music and sound volumes, and whether numbers mode is on. It's never sent to us. Deleting the app deletes it. Paintopia doesn't ask for your name, email, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or precise location, and it has no account of its own. If you save a picture of your game from the share sheet, your iPhone asks your permission to add it to your photos; Paintopia never looks at them.

Ads (iPhone and Android apps)

The apps are free and show ads from Google AdMob, run by Google LLC: a short video when you choose to watch one (to clear the bottle, or for a second chance), and, after your first few games, an ad between games now and then. To pick, show and measure those ads and to prevent ad fraud, Google's ad software in the app collects data from your device, such as:

We share this data with no other third party, and our terms with Google provide the same or equal protection of your data as this policy. Google handles this data under its own privacy policy. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy. We don't receive this data ourselves. AdMob only gives us totals, such as how many ads were shown. Ads in Paintopia are limited to those Google rates as suitable for general audiences (G).

Tracking (iPhone)

The first time you open the iPhone app, before it asks Google for any ad, it explains what it's about to ask, then shows Apple's prompt asking whether Paintopia may track your activity across other companies' apps and websites. If you allow it, Google may use your iPhone's advertising identifier to show you ads that match your interests and to measure them, and may combine it with data from other apps and websites. If you don't, the ads aren't personalized this way. The game plays exactly the same either way. You can change your answer at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Consent

Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), the app first shows Google's consent form, and ads follow your choices there. In US states whose laws let you opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising (such as California), you can do that in the app: tap the pause mark, then privacy choices. That row appears wherever Google's consent rules apply, and it's also where you change your choices later.

Your choices

The remove-ads purchase

Purchases are handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment details, name or account. At each start the app asks the store whether you own "remove ads", so it can turn the ads off. That answer isn't saved anywhere else.

Game Center (iPhone)

If you're signed in to Apple's Game Center, the iPhone app sends your best score to Paintopia's leaderboard, your best of the week to that week's leaderboard, and your score in the daily challenge to that day's leaderboard, where other Game Center players can see them next to your Game Center nickname (your Game Center settings decide who can see your profile), and it reports the achievements you earn. If you challenge a friend from the end of a game, Game Center sends the challenge and keeps its scores. Apple runs Game Center under the Apple Privacy Policy. We can see the leaderboard as any player can, but we don't receive your Apple Account details. The daily challenge shows the day's top score with that player's Game Center nickname, as the leaderboard does. If you let the app see your Game Center friends (your iPhone asks once), the end of a game shows the friend whose best is just above yours; their scores are read from Game Center on your phone and sent nowhere. If you decline Game Center's sign-in, or sign out of Game Center in your iPhone's Settings, the app sends nothing to it.

Notifications, sharing and ratings (iPhone)

After your first game, the iPhone app sets one notification a day to tell you a new daily challenge is open, at about the time of day you first played. At first these arrive quietly in Notification Center (Apple's quiet delivery), without a permission prompt. Later the app may offer to make them full alerts, and only if you say yes does your iPhone ask for permission. The notification is set on your iPhone itself: nothing is sent to us or anyone else to make it happen. Turn it off any time with the "daily challenge" switch on the pause card, or in Settings → Notifications → Paintopia. The share button at the end of a game opens your iPhone's own share sheet with a picture of the end of the game: you choose whether, where and with whom to share it, and the app sends nothing by itself. Now and then, after a good game, the app may show Apple's own prompt to rate Paintopia; Apple decides how often it appears.

Children

Paintopia is a game for a general audience and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included. If you believe a child's information reached us, email us and we'll delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or state privacy laws in the US), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data, or to object to how it is used. We do not receive gameplay or device data from the game. If you have contacted support, you can request access to or deletion of that correspondence. For data Google collects for ads, use Google's tools above or contact Google. We're glad to help either way: support@pensivefrog.games.

Security and retention

Your save stays on your device until you delete the app. Google keeps ad data under its own retention policies. We keep emails you send us only as long as we need them to answer you.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with its new date.
