Trampable NZ privacy policy
Effective 30 October 2026
Trampable NZ has no account, ads, tracking or analytics. What you save stays on your iPhone, and the app sends nothing about you to Pensive Frog Games or anyone else.
What stays on your iPhone
Your saved tracks and places with your notes, the tracks and pins you opened in the last 30 days, the regions you've looked at and the last one you picked, a record of the alerts sent in the last 7 days, your settings, and the forecasts the app has downloaded are kept on your iPhone, and its widgets show your saved tracks from a copy kept there. You can clear recently opened places and downloaded data in Settings. Device backups, such as iCloud Backup, may include app data according to your settings. Deleting the app removes its data, except the count of free-trial days kept in your keychain (see Pro).
Location
Only when you tap a location button does your iPhone ask whether the app may use your location while you use it. Your location is used on your iPhone to start the map where you are and to show what is near you and how far it is. It never leaves your iPhone, but when the map opens where you are, the app downloads that region's forecast, as it does for any region you look at. You can change this at any time in Settings.
Forecasts and track information
The app downloads forecasts, track information and DOC alerts from Pensive Frog Games' data site, trampable-conditions.pages.dev, hosted by Cloudflare. It asks for the list of files, DOC's alerts for the whole country, track updates for any region that changed, and forecasts for the regions you've looked at in the last two weeks or have saved tracks in, plus the last region you picked (Auckland until you pick one). While you have saved tracks or heads-up alerts on, iOS may let it do this in the background a few times a day. Like any app's request, they include your IP address, iOS version and language settings, but nothing that identifies you or your iPhone. Cloudflare, which serves them, handles network traffic such as IP addresses under its own privacy policy. Maps are Apple's, under Apple's privacy policy.
Heads-up alerts
If you turn them on in Settings, the app checks the forecast for your saved tracks on your iPhone each time it downloads one, and schedules a notification when one looks good, after your iPhone asks your permission. Nothing is sent anywhere to make it happen.
Links
Directions open Google Maps (its app or website) or Apple Maps, whichever you choose, with the place's position. Hut bookings open DOC's website, and other links open DOC's, councils', OpenStreetMap's and safety websites. Each handles that under its own privacy policy.
Pro
Pro is a one-time in-app purchase through Apple's App Store, which handles it and your payment details under Apple's privacy policy. The app only learns, on your iPhone, whether you own it. The free trial lasts 14 days of use. The app counts them in your iPhone's keychain, which keeps the count if you delete the app and, if iCloud Keychain is on, shares it with your other devices through Apple. To tell whether the trial was used before, the app also checks, on your iPhone, when your Apple ID first downloaded it. None of this is sent to Pensive Frog Games.
Apple may provide TestFlight feedback and diagnostic information under its own privacy terms and your choices.
If you email support, Pensive Frog Games receives the information you choose to send and keeps it only as needed to answer you. Contact support@pensivefrog.games to request deletion of support correspondence.
The online policy describes the current release. Any change to what the app collects will require an updated policy before it is introduced.
