Diveable NZ privacy policy
Effective 30 October 2026
Diveable NZ has no account, ads, tracking or analytics. What you save stays on your iPhone, and the app sends nothing about you to Pensive Frog Games or anyone else.
What stays on your iPhone
Your saved sites and pins with your notes on them, the sites and pins you opened in the last 30 days, a record of the alerts sent in the last 7 days, your settings, and the forecasts the app has downloaded are kept on your iPhone. The app writes a copy of your saved sites' forecast to a space on your iPhone that its widgets read. You can clear recently opened places and downloaded data in Settings. Device backups, such as iCloud Backup, may include app data according to your settings. Deleting the app removes its data, except the count of free-trial days kept in your keychain (see Pro).
Location
Only when you tap a location button does your iPhone ask whether the app may use your location while you use it. Your location is used on your iPhone to show what is near you and how far it is, and is never sent anywhere. You can change this at any time in Settings.
Forecasts
The app downloads forecasts and dive-site updates for the whole country from Pensive Frog Games' data site, diveable-conditions.pages.dev, hosted by Cloudflare. Every copy of the app asks for the same files, so the requests say nothing about where you are or which sites you look at. Like any app's request, they include your IP address, iOS version and language settings, but nothing that identifies you or your iPhone. To keep alerts and widgets current while you have saved sites, iOS may let the app download them in the background a few times a day. Cloudflare, which serves them, handles network traffic such as IP addresses under its own privacy policy. Maps are Apple's, under Apple's privacy policy.
Heads-up alerts
If you turn them on in Settings, the app checks the forecast for your saved sites on your iPhone each time it downloads one, and schedules a notification when one looks good, after your iPhone asks your permission. Nothing is sent anywhere to make it happen.
Links and sharing
Directions open Apple Maps or Google Maps (its app or website) with the place's position, never your own. Sharing a place or a dive plan puts the place's position and a Google Maps link into a message you choose where to send, and Copy puts the position on your clipboard. Apple, Google, anyone you share with and other websites you open handle that under their own privacy policies.
Pro
Pro is a one-time in-app purchase through Apple's App Store, which handles it and your payment details under Apple's privacy policy. The app only learns, on your iPhone, whether you own it. The free trial lasts for the first 14 days you use the app. The app counts them in your iPhone's keychain, which keeps the count if you delete the app and, if you use iCloud Keychain, syncs it to your other Apple devices. To check the trial wasn't used before, the app also asks Apple, on your iPhone, when your Apple ID first downloaded it. None of this is sent to Pensive Frog Games.
Apple may provide TestFlight feedback and diagnostic information under its own privacy terms and your choices.
If you email support, Pensive Frog Games receives the information you choose to send and keeps it only as needed to answer you. Contact support@pensivefrog.games to request deletion of support correspondence.
The online policy describes the current release. Any change to what the app collects will require an updated policy before it is introduced.
